Growth advisory
Growth advisor for startups
Growth is getting more expensive and you can’t see why. I help you find the number that’s costing you and fix it first, before you put more money behind it.
Growth advisory for startups is for you if you’re a founder between pre-seed and Series B and every new customer costs more than it should. I help you find the one constraint that matters most, whether that’s acquisition cost, activation, retention or pricing, and fix it first, as a focused strategy engagement, recurring coaching or part-time fractional support. I’ve grown a startup on a bootstrapped budget: I led growth at Pixapp, a social marketplace for artists, which reached 50,000 monthly active users and 3,000 merchants within six months.

Where you might be stuck
Acquisition that stops paying back
Paid spend that worked at $5k a month and breaks at $50k. We take the funnel apart into its actual multipliers — cost per impression, click-through, conversion, order value, margin — and find which one is carrying the loss.
Growth that will not compound
Every new customer costs the same as the last one, because nothing they do after buying brings the next one in. We look at what customers do after they buy, and add the steps that bring the next customer in.
A number nobody trusts
Three dashboards, three different answers, and a weekly meeting spent arguing about whose number is right. The fix usually starts with agreeing what each number means, and the tooling comes after.
A first growth hire you cannot yet specify
You know you need someone. You do not yet know whether it is a performance marketer, a lifecycle marketer or an analyst — and the wrong one costs you a year.
What people say
Ways to work together
Strategy
A focused engagement with a decision at the end of it. Where to play, what to charge, what to build next. Scoped to one question that matters, answered properly.
Coaching
Recurring 1-1 sessions with you as founder, on whatever is in front of you that month. Maximum two sessions a month, so the work between them is real.
Fractional
I join part-time and run growth for you. For when you know what you need but cannot yet justify a full-time senior hire.

Common questions
What does a growth advisor for startups actually do?
I work on the system that produces growth rather than on individual campaigns: how customers are acquired, what it costs, what they do next, what they pay, and which of those levers is currently the binding constraint. In practice that means diagnosing the funnel, choosing the one or two things worth fixing, and helping you build the measurement to tell whether the fix worked.
At what stage should a startup bring in a growth advisor?
Once you have a product people pay for and an acquisition channel that is at least partly working. Before that, an advisor is an expensive way to have an opinion about a product that has not been validated. The useful window is usually between first repeatable revenue and the first senior growth hire.
How is this different from hiring a growth lead?
A hire owns execution full-time. An advisor compresses the decisions — which channel, which metric, which hire, which pricing model — so that when you do hire, the role is specified and the first six months are not spent re-deriving strategy. The fractional option sits between the two.
Do you work with startups outside Malaysia and Singapore?
Yes. I am based between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and advisory work is remote by default across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. I have mentored founders on GrowthMentor since 2021, most of them outside this region.
What happens on the introductory call?
Twenty minutes, free, no deck. You describe what you are working on and where it is stuck; I tell you what I think the actual constraint is and whether I am the right person for it. If I am not, I will say so on that call.
What does it cost?
Scope and fee are set after the introductory call, once the work is defined — a one-question strategy engagement and a fractional retainer are not priced the same way. The 20-minute introductory call is free, with no obligation.
